Milei explained how the undeclared dollars will be used "without leaving any marks."

Milei explained how the undeclared dollars will be used "without leaving any marks."

The President referred to the postponement of the announcement, which will benefit those who have dollars stashed "under the mattress," and spoke of a "laundering without paying taxes."

"You'll be able to use your dollars without leaving any marks on your fingers. No one needs to know where you got them. If there was a robbery, the robbery must be combated. But we mustn't create economic distortion to combat a crime," the President declared this morning on A24 .

"I don't care in the least where they got them from," he said, also describing the measure as "a money laundering scheme without paying taxes."

One of the issues raised by journalist Antonio Laje is that this undisclosed disclosure could be seen as an unfair decision toward those who have paid taxes for years to keep their accounts in order.

However, Milei spoke out in favor of those who evaded taxes .

"Those people who have that money there aren't criminals ; they're people who managed to escape the libertarian politicians ," he said, attributing the role of "thief" to the State.

"Whoever managed to escape, great; I don't have to punish him because he was able to escape from the thief," Milei said.

He also rejected warnings about the possible use of the mechanism by criminal organizations , such as drug trafficking .

He said, "You fight drug trafficking with the Ministry of Security, with the Ministry of Defense, not with the economy."

Milei: "A money laundering scheme without paying taxes."

"By definition, it's like money laundering without paying taxes. It's not intended to raise revenue, but rather to free up resources, so people can freely use their money," the head of state asserted, explaining that the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), the Ministry of Economy, the Central Bank, and the Ministry of Justice are working on the measure.

Milei acknowledged the postponement of the measure, which would have been "a coup" in terms of elections , but that she couldn't launch it last week because it wasn't ready. However, she didn't specify when it would begin to be implemented: "We have to check all the avenues and be sure this will work."

"Argentina has a GDP of $600 billion, and the estimate is that Argentines have between $200 and $400 billion in their savings. This implies an injection of funds into the economy that could generate a massive acceleration in the growth rate," the president explained, explaining the reasons for establishing this uncontrolled opening.
